CONVENTIONAL BANDAGE

A conventional bandage is a nonstick pad, dental bib, or saran wrap taped to the skin.
•Remove the bandage after 3 to 4 hours.  If possible, leave the bandage on overnight.
Wash your tattoo with warm water and a mild antibacterial soap.  Dial liquid soap, Dr. Bronners or cetaphil are recommended. Rinse with cold.
•DO NOT re-bandage your healing tattoo. It needs the air to begin healing.
Let air dry or pat with clean paper towel.
•Once your tattoo begins to dry out, apply a small amount of plain unscented lotion.  Aveeno, cetaphil or any plain fragrance free lotion.
•Wash your tattoo at least twice a day.
•Always apply lotion with CLEAN HANDS.
Wear loose, breathable cotton clothing over your tattoo if you need to cover it.  Do not let anything rub against it for the first few days.
If your clothing is sticking to your tattoo, run it under some warm water and remove gently
Your tattoo will begin to flake and peel after about 4 days.
•DO NOT pick or scratch your tattoo.
•DO NOT soak in the bath or go swimming for 2 weeks.  Showers are OK.
•DO NOT expose your tattoo to the sun for at least 2 weeks.
•Continue to wash your tattoo twice a day until it finishes peeling.

Your tattoo will appear healed after 2 weeks, but continue to moisturize it daily for about 4 weeks.  It is completely healed when it does not appear shiny.

SANIDERM BANDAGE

A sani-derm bandage looks like a clear film over the tattoo.  It seals everything up against the skin and kickstarts the healing.
•Leave the bandage on for up to 4 days, as long as it DOES NOT LEAK.  The blood and weep is going to pool in the bandage and look like a gross soy sauce packet.  THIS IS NORMAL. All those juices are kickstarting the healing of the tattoo. The colors are not running in your tattoo, it is all going to be there when you wash it off.
IF THE BANDAGE IS LEAKING - REMOVE IT
•After 3 or 4 days gently remove the bandage.  Remove it SLOWLY under running water and use two hands, if possible.
Wash your tattoo with warm water and a mild antibacterial soap.  Dial liquid soap, Dr. Bronners or cetaphil are recommended. You may need to wash it a few times to gently remove all the gunk.
•DO NOT re-bandage your healing tattoo.
